DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks look to upset the Philadelphia 76ers, who are in a dogfight for the top seed in the Eastern Conference, in an early 6:30 p.m. CT Monday night tipoff for a nationally broadcasted game.
Tonight's showdown should be Mavs newly-acquired guard J.J. Redick's much-anticipated debut. Nicolo Melli and Redick were acquired by the Mavs in a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans last month for James Johnson, Wes Iwundu, a second-round draft pick, and cash.
Redick hasn't played since March 3 due to a right heel injury. His fresh legs could be the offensive spark the Mavs need vs. the defensively-stout 76ers. Redick has been upgraded to "available" for tonight's matchup.

JJ Redick doesn’t have an ideal number of games in mind to get ready for the playoffs with the Dallas Mavericks, who were thinking postseason when they acquired the shooting guard with an expiring contract.
“The ideal number is the most amount of games possible,” said Redick, who is recovering from a right heel injury that required an injection and last played March 3. “I’m a rhythm player and so I want to be in a good rhythm going into the playoffs.”

Veteran shooting guard JJ Redick, who was dealt at the NBA trade deadline from New Orleans to Dallas, is not happy over how Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin handled the move, saying he "did not honor his word."

The Old Man & the Three, Redick explained his reasons for requesting a trade from New Orleans in November, according to ESPN's Andrew Lopez. Among the most important reasons was his desire to be closer to his family in Brooklyn, while he also cited the team's trade of Jrue Holiday as a factor for wanting out.

On those days where I actually live up to the “healthy routine” I keep in the Notes section of my iPhone, I take in a list of liquids that could rival a cocktail menu. The regimen includes a pea protein shake, a cup of beet juice, a greens smoothie with spinach and wheatgrass, and a mug of valerian-infused tea. Each drink has a purpose; they’re meant to aid in recovery, offer energy, facilitate digestion and help me get to sleep.
Which is to say, I have a fairly low threshold when it comes to willingness to chug something in the name of wellness. If it works, why not? It’s usually a far more efficient way to cash in on nutrition. A couple years ago, JJ Redick explained how he used to labor through a plate piled high with beets each night, washing them down with water until he was bloated and bored, all in pursuit of the vegetable’s nitrates. Now, he just drinks beet juice.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, "The Warriors and [New Orleans] Pelicans discussed a potential deal involving Kelly Oubre Jr. There isn’t traction as of yet. Like many conversations around this time, it is a scenario."
