Date Time Police appeal for witnesses after Tarneit collision Officers from Westgate Highway Patrol are appealing for witnesses following a two-car collision in Tarneit yesterday morning. Investigators have been told a red Honda Civic was turning right from Tarneit Road into Sayers Road when it was struck by a grey Kluger which was travelling along Sayers Road about 8.30am. A 24-year-old Truganina woman who was driving the Civic, along with two children aged two years and five months, were all taken to hospital. The Truganina woman remains in hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Kluger, a 31-year Tarneit woman, was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. ....
VIC Premier The Andrews Labor Government has removed its 45 th dangerous and congested level crossing – with trains now running on the new one-kilometre rail bridge at Werribee Street, safely separated from traffic. Minister for Transport Infrastructure Jacinta Allan and Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today visited the Werribee site to inspect the new rail bridge and unveil designs for the 30,000 square metres of open space that the elevated rail will deliver for the community. Werribee Street is a key connection between the suburbs of Werribee and Wyndham Vale – removing the crossing will improve travel and safety for the 20,000 vehicles that pass through each day, meaning no more long waits at the boom gates while freight trains pass, which can be up to 1.5 kilometres long. ....
By Alesha Capone A 30,000 square metre open space, featuring a sculpture of a pair of gigantic emu feet, will be constructed next to the new elevated rail bridge in Werribee. To be installed at the base of two bridge columns, the emu art is based on a traditional Wadawurrung story and will include a series of emu footprints etched into a pathway leading towards the Werribee River. A ‘yarning circle’ representing an emu’s nest will be a central point for gathering and reflection. Plans for the open space, adjoining existing parkland around Wyndham Park and Werribee River, were unveiled by Minister for Transport Infrastructure Jacinta Allan and Werribee MP Tim Pallas this morning at the rail bridge at Werribee Street, where trains are now running. ....
