Opposition leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has used her Facebook page to pose a series of question to the Prime Minister as she again urged him and his government to act urgently to protectthe public.
She also accused Dr Rowley of attacking his political detractors at a time when Trinidad and Tobago is in deep mourning over the sharp rise in covid19-related deaths.
She said TT is facing a covid crisis because Government did not act swiftly to procure vaccines; did not secure the borders; did not seek expert guidance; did not partner with stakeholders including the private sector and the Opposition in an all-hands-on-deck approach; and did not think beyond closing the (air) borders.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is urging the government to appeal to developed nations for the use of mobile hospital units. She said this would increase bed space and bolster the parallel health care system.
Speaking during the UNC’s Virtual Report programme on Monday night, Persad-Bissessar said, “Make contact with developed countries, Don’t be afraid to beg – or if you don’t want to beg, I’m sure you will draw down on the Heritage and Stabilisation Fund. I’m sure you will raid it again.

OPPOSITION Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Monday accused the Prime Minister of locking out the vulnerable people in TT, with the latest covid19 restrictions announced at a news conference at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann's. In a statement, Persad-Bissessar said, "The Opposition supports measures to protect the health and wellbeing of citizens, but we cannot support hundreds of thousands being left without the ability to take care of their families."
She claimed that while Government has found money to pay millions of dollars in rent to the families of Cabinet ministers and finance contracts of the families of other senior ministers, "they do not have a single dollar to help the taxpayers of this nation during their time of need."

Senators get more time to talk

Senators get more time to talk
Wade Mark -
THE Senate on Tuesday agreed that average senator's speech will now be 30 minutes, up from the 20-minute limit set last August to curb the covid19 pandemic, but not a full return to the pre-pandemic allocation of 40 minutes.
Moments before Opposition Senator Wade Mark could move a private motion to return to pre-pandemic allocations, Senate Leader Franklin Khan made proposals to which a split Senate agreed.
Khan proposed 45 minutes for a motion's mover, 40 minutes for the first responder and 30 minutes for all other speakers and the wrap-up.
Senate President Christine Kangaloo told Mark he now had 45 minutes.
