By City News Service Colorado Rockies v Los Angeles Dodgers LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp was part of the 28-player training camp roster announced today for the U.S. baseball team that will attempt to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. The 36-year-old Kemp most recently played for the Colorado Rockies, hitting .239 with six home runs and 21 RBIs in 43 games in 2020. He played for the Dodgers from 2006-14 and 2018. Kemp is seventh in Dodger history with 203 home runs and 10th in extra-base hits with 476. The roster also includes two other former Dodgers, infielder Logan Forsythe, who played for them in 2017 and 2018, and catcher Tim Federowicz, who played for them 2011-2014 and now plays for their Oklahoma City Triple-A affiliate. ....
MLB Trade Rumors Longtime Orioles starter Chris Tillman is making a comeback attempt, reports Britt Ghiroli of the Athletic. Tillman has been working with Dave Wallace, his former pitching coach in Baltimore, at Cressey Sports Performance in Florida since February, Wallace tells Ghiroli. Tillman, who recently turned 33 years old, was a regular in the Orioles’ rotation for a good chunk of the last decade. He broke into the majors in 2009 and worked as up-and-down starting depth over the next couple seasons. By 2013, Tillman had locked down a permanent rotation spot, making at least 30 starts every year from 2013-16. He earned an All-Star berth in 2013 during a season in which he tossed 206 1/3 frames of 3.71 ERA ball. ....

USA BASEBALL FINALIZES 2021 PROFESSIONAL NATIONAL TEAM STAFF 04/22/21 USA Baseball Professional National Team Manager Mike Scioscia finalized the coaching staff for the 2021 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Baseball Americas Qualification Event for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020, the organization announced today. Coaching alongside Scioscia will be Jerry Weinstein (Bench Coach), Dave Wallace (Pitching Coach), Ernie Young (Hitting Coach/First Base), Darren Fenster (Third Base), and Roly de Armas (Bullpen). Combined, the 2021 staff brings 19 years of playing and coaching experience with Team USA to this year’s Professional National Team, having won five gold medals and five silver medals in their time representing the U.S. Additionally, Young was a member of the gold medal-winning team at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. ....
