PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has claimed that illegal mining has ended in the province, while the Minerals Development Department has surpassed other departments in the province by collecting extraordinary revenue of 54 percent higher during the previous financial year 2020-21. The government set a target of Rs 3450 million, but the department collected Rs 5221.879 million of the revenue. Around 120 percent of significant revenue has been increased in the last two years.
More than 30 officers were suspended and disciplinary action was taken against them, including grade 20 officers to stop illegal mining across the province. In the last two years, as many as 2669 complaints of illegal mining have been sent to the police, and 1336 were converted into FIRs. All empty blocks and sites have been auctioned off. The establishment of the gemstone laboratory, technical training, and certification center has been approved to generate revenue and produce skilled labor. Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan appreciated the overall performance of the Mineral Development Department especially revenue collection and curbing the illegal mining in the province said that the government will ensure the strengthening of the Mineral Development Department in terms of human resources, vehicles, and other operational budgets. Illegal mining will not be allowed in the province.

PESHAWAR: The Finance Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Thursday notified a 50pc increase in the house rent allowance of all provincial government employees with effect from July 1.
According to the Finance Department KP notification, all employees from Grade-1 to 6 would get Rs2,600 per month under the head of washing, dress and integrated allowance collectively.
The Grade-7 to 16 employees, who did not get any allowance, would receive Rs3,500 per month as a special allowance.
The employees of Elementary, Secondary and Higher Education departments would get a 20 per cent teaching allowance on their basic pay 2017 from July 1, 2021.

KP govt releases Rs16.86 bn funds for merged areas

PESHAWAR: The KP government has released Rs16. 86 billion funds for ongoing Annual Development Programme schemes for merged areas. Maximum development funds have been released for construction of roads amounting to Rs4,010.999 million followed by Rs 2,001 million for Primary and Secondary Education, Rs1944 million for water and Rs1042 million for sanitation and clean drinking water projects.
The Finance Department has released Rs 683 million for Agriculture, Rs 828 million for Energy and Power, Rs398 million for Forestry, Rs 611 million for Higher Education and Rs 214 million for Home Department’s ongoing projects.
Likewise, Rs 515.719 million were released for the Industries Department, Rs 60 million for the Mineral Department, Rs 919 million for Local Bodies, Rs 708 million for Sports and Tourism, Rs528 million for Urban Development besides several others projects.
