COVID positivity among people ages 18-29 is up to 30-percent in the last seven-days, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Drake University in Des Moines has vaccinated more than one-thousand students, faculty, and staff so far.
The school is holding another clinic this Friday, April 16th at the Knapp Center where everyone will receive the single shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
The University of Northern Iowa is holding a COVID vaccine clinic tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, and second shots will have to be scheduled during finals.

Biden considering cancelling student loans by EO. Do you support this? | NEWSRADIO 1040 WHO

Apr 5, 2021
President Biden has asked his Education Secretary to investigate whether he can cancel student loan debt by Executive Order.
"I understand the impact of debt," he told CNN in February.
He apparently is nervous about cancelling debt for those who went to Ivy League schools though and has said publicly the Government should not cancel those loans.
As I have said many times, each President takes more power to the Executive and no matter what our politics, we should all be concerned about this trend.
So what do you think? Would you support the cancelling of student loans by Executive Order?

So This is How a Manatee Squeaks? #ManateeAppreciationDay | 99.1 WQIK

By Cindy Spicer
It's Manatee Appreciation Day!
A few years ago I was kayaking and ran across a group of manatees feeding on the side of the Intracoastal in Jacksonville. I stayed clear of them and it was amazing how they were curious and swam under the kayak, and then back to eating. They've got to eat a lot of grass to maintain their figure!
I visited Seaworld in Orlando and they were nursing a manatee back to health to release him back into the wild and I caught a quick video of him filling up on salad.
And check out how the manatee communicates in video number 3.

Will GOP help pass latest left wing boondoggle because of earmarks? | NEWSRADIO 1040 WHO

Apr 1, 2021
President Biden has now unveiled his latest $2.3 Trillion spending plans to improve the infrastructure of the United States.
There's a problem however. Only $650 Billion is actually for roads and bridges with the rest including a big ole $80 Billion check to Amtrak, retrofitting hospitals, homes and other buildings in an "environmentally friendly" way, expanding Medicaid ($400 Billion) and then we will use yet more Billions to permanently cap some oil and gas wells.
Having said all of that, let's talk about earmarks. Earmarks are making a return after the GOP House members recently voted in favor in a private ballot. This means that if they can get their own pet "earmarky" projects into the Bill, it will be difficult for them to vote against it - right?

Iowa farmers begin crop season with strong prices

By Sue Danielson
Apr 1, 2021
(Ames, IA) -- Iowa State University Ag Econ Professor Chad Hart is projecting continued strong prices for corn and soybeans, even if U.S. farmers put more acres into production. Corn and soybean prices are up abuoat 50-percent over the past few years.
“Nationwide, what we’re going to see is farmers throughout the country planting more crops, more corn and soybeans,” Hart said. “
Farmers are using more farmland this year for crops than they have the past few.”
Hart says he expects Iowa's corn and soybean acres to remain stable, but other states could see more acres planted due to higher commodity prices, incentivizing farmers.
