Portsmouth man arrested, charged with aggravated burglary Barrett The Portsmouth Police Department announces the arrest of Brandon N. Barrett of 301 Dunlap road in Portsmouth. On March 1, 2021, at 0251 hours, Portsmouth dispatch center received a call from a female who lives in the 100 block of Dunlap Rd. The female advised that she was asleep inside her residence when she heard a noise. The victim went to investigate the sound and encountered the suspect, Brandon Barrett, inside her home. The victim ran back to her bedroom to retrieve a firearm. The suspect followed the victim into her bedroom. The victim fired one shot towards the suspect. The suspect and victim then fought over the handgun. The victim was able to free herself and ran outside to a neighbor’s home. ....
South Webster man arrested for aggravated robbery Benjamin L. Coriell The Portsmouth Police Department announced the arrest of Benjamin L. Coriell, from South Webster Ohio, for Aggravated Robbery. On Feb. 24, 2021, patrol officers were called to 1817 Thomas Ave. in reference to a food delivery driver being robbed. The victim reported that she was delivering food to the Thomas Ave. location when she was approached by the suspect. The suspect told the victim that the food was for him and then grabbed her food and money bag. The victim struggled to keep the bag from the suspect and when the suspect produced a knife and threatened to cut the victim’s throat, the victim released the bag and the suspect fled with the money pouch. As the suspect was running away, he dropped his knife and a $100.00 counterfeit bill. ....
Registered sex offender attacks female juvenile Barnett PORTSMOUTH On Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at approximately 9:45 a.m., officers were called to the area of the 300 block of Court Street in reference to an adult male attacking a juvenile female who was walking to school. Several witnesses saw the incident and one witness followed the suspect until patrol officers were able to locate and secure the suspect. The suspect was identified by the juvenile victim. The suspect was transported to the police department to be interview by investigators. Once at the police department, the suspect tried to flee the investigation bureau and physically assaulted several investigators and a patrol officer. The suspect was able to be secured and controlled. ....
