Four libraries in North Ayrshire had their future hanging in the balance North Ayrshire libraries could now be set to be saved after fears of closures and relocations. It is suspected initial plans to relocate libraries in Beith, Saltcoats, Dreghorn and West Kilbride to nearby community centres (Beith Community Centre, Argyle Community Centre, Townend Community Centre and West Kilbride Community Centre) will not go ahead. The fate of North Ayrshire libraries and other community buildings are in the hands of councillors as their future will be debated at a council meeting next week. The results of a three-year public consultation into community services will be presented to a meeting of the Full Council on Wednesday, June 9. ....
100 Years Ago 11 GRADUATES OF SOUDERTON SCHOOLS â Eleven members of the class will receive their diplomas on Commencement Day, June 10th . Following the annual custom, the Junior Class will tender a banquet in honor of the Seniors on Friday evening, June 3rd, to which teachers and directors are invited. STORES WILL CLOSE WEDNESDAYS AT NOON  â The custom started last year in this town of closing stores and business places on Wednesday afternoons during the summer months will again be followed out this year . The movement is made in order to allow the clerks to have the same half holiday as most people who work in factories and other places, and this will be followed out beginning with next week. ....
