Will hospitals fill up?
As of 6 p.m. Monday, there were 246 people hospitalized in Delaware, the most since May 15.
The number of hospitalizations in the state is rising slightly faster than it did during the spring surge. Over the past week, hospitalizations increased by 34% from 183 to 246. In the week preceding the spring peak, hospitalizations increased by 25% from 269 to 337.
The state never surpassed its hospital capacity during the spring. The number of hospitalizations steadily decreased from a peak of 337 on April 27 to a low of 29 on Aug. 16.
Now, with hospitals performing elective procedures, Carney has estimated the state’s hospital capacity for COVID-19 patients is between 400 and 500. Carney declined to offer an estimate of when the state will threaten that capacity when asked Tuesday.

Help kids see how they can make a difference
With climate change dominating the national conversation, helping kids navigate today’s complex world can be a formidable challenge. How can parents inspire children to make eco-conscious choices? Truth is, it’s a family affair.
Nemours Center for Children’s Health Media says the best way to teach them is to be a good role model yourself. By showing that you care about and respect the environment, your kids will do the same.
“This can start in your own backyard,” it said in its website. “Help kids plant a garden or tree. Set up bird feeders, a birdbath, and birdhouses. Kids can clean out and refill the bath daily, and clean up seed debris around feeders and restock them.”
