On many days during this harrowing pandemic, the Daily Reporter’s Tom Russo has found himself in the middle of many of our communities’ defining moments of the year, from the first days of COVID-fueled panic-buying in March to the first injections of the vaccine in December. COVID-19 vaccinations continue

GREENFIELD Hancock Regional Hospital had another full day of COVID-19 vaccinations Monday and anticipates similar turnouts this week.
The hospital began administering a COVID-19 vaccine made by Pfizer to front-line health-care workers on Friday, Dec. 18. Those who received shots were scheduled to return in 21 days for the second dose.
Almost all of the 192 people scheduled to receive vaccinations on Friday received them, said Tim Livesay, director of pharmacy for the hospital. On Monday, Dec. 22, another full day of 192 were scheduled, he added. Health-care workers receiving the vaccine are not just from Hancock County; medical professionals from nearby counties are also coming here to be vaccinated as well.

Hospital expecting COVID-19 vaccine Thursday

HANCOCK COUNTY Work is expected to begin later this week on vaccinating almost 1,000 hospital workers in the county from COVID-19.
Hancock Regional Hospital is expecting to receive 975 doses of the vaccine made by Pfizer on Thursday, Dec. 17, said Tim Livesay, director of pharmacy for the hospital.
UPS and FedEx trucks began rolling out Sunday morning to deliver the vaccine to distribution centers across the country after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized its emergency use late last week. On Monday, the first doses began to be administered around the country.

GREENFIELD In the Keen Classroom on the lower level of Hancock Regional Hospital, rows of tables with tall sharps containers standing next to each one have been set up in anticipation of administering the first round of COVID-19 vaccinations.
The hospital’s inoculation station could see its first activity as soon as next week, assuming the Pfizer vaccine the first hope in the race to an immunity-building medicine wins emergency use authorization. A U.S. government advisory panel convened on Thursday to decide whether to endorse large-scale use of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to help conquer the outbreak that has killed close to 300,000 Americans.
