The Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo has returned to Jones Park and Barksdale Pavilion in Gulfport.
Everyone is encouraged to come enjoy carnival rides, local and regional vendors, delicious foods, and the chance to see a variety of fish that live in our Gulf Coast waters.
The rodeo is happening through the weekend and the fun will finish on Sunday night with a firework show at dark. Prize Chairman/Director of Security Greg Federico said, “We had a great number of fish brought in yesterday for our first day. We had a twelve-year-old young man who’s got a pending state record on red snapper. He has, I believe it’s a nineteen pound, I think it’s seven-ounce red snapper he brought in, that’s a pending record. The crowd we got yesterday was very good for an opening day. ‘Shuck Cancer’ Dinner under the Stars
People put on their best white attire for the Dinner under the Stars event put on Sunday evening to help raise money for American Cancer Society’s Shuck Cancer Gulf Coast Fundraiser.
Guests were entertained by Jordan Chalden, enjoyed a Cajun meal catered by Liz and Nomie’s Gourmet Eats and decorations were provided by inspired designs.

A portion of the proceeds raised will be used to support the American Cancer Society’s Community Transportation Grant program to get patients back and forth to treatment.
