Today, we add our voice to the many women, mothers, economists, academics, and early-childhood experts calling for the creation of affordable and high-quality early-learning and child-care programs throughout the country.
The pandemic has driven more than 16,000 women out of the workforce, while the male workforce has grown by 91,000. We need to make sure that the road to recovery considers the critical needs of families with young children, so that mothers can participate in the labour force with the confidence that their children are learning and receiving the care they need before they go to school.

They join Liberal MP David McGuinty, who is committee chairman, Liberal MP Brenda Shanahan, New Democrat MP Don Davies, Sen. Vern White, Sen. Frances Lankin and Sen. Dennis Dawson.
The National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians, established in 2017, has the authority to review sensitive activities across the federal government.
The committee is currently studying the federal policing mandate of the RCMP as well as documents related to the firing of two scientists from a high-security laboratory in Winnipeg.
The committee submits classified reports to the prime minister, which are later tabled in Parliament in edited form.

This spring, Third Age Barrie (TAB) Life-Long Learning Association invited six leading lights in the fields of climate crisis solutions, anti-Black racism, sustainable infrastructure, political power and social justice to address this question.
From April 27-June 1 the series “Crisis=Danger+ Opportunity” challenged the TAB audience to assess not only the dangers we have experienced during the pandemic but also to consider whether the pandemic created opportunities to address climate crisis, racism and social inequality. 151 TAB audience members participated enthusiastically and gave the series top marks.
Each of our speakers saw not only danger but opportunity as we recover from the current world-wide health crisis.
