5 Lawsuits Filed in Surfside Condo Collapse; Judge Says $48M in Insurance Is Not Enough
Five lawsuits have been filed against the Champlain Towers South Condominium Association in Surfside, Florida as of Thursday afternoon as plaintiffs move to preserve evidence at the site of the partially collapsed high-rise to stake a claim to a share of the reported $48 million in insurance coverage available.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Michael Hanzman held an online emergency meeting Thursday morning. Attorneys for the condo association told him that they are aware of a $30 million property insurance policy from Great American and $18 million in liability insurance, according to a webcast of a segment of the hearing posted by the Miami Herald.

Staff Journalist The last of four defendants got arraigned Monday in Fauquier County General District Court on first-degree murder and related charges in the April 22 shooting death of a Remington man in his front yard.
Martin Anuar Martinez, 30, and Darren Nathaniel Davis, 36, both of Manassas, also face charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, armed daytime burglary and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the April 22 murder of Charles W. âTripâ Bopp III, 24.

Both are being held at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center with no bond.
Earlier this week officers arrested 30-year-old Martin Anuar Martinez and 28-year-old Beatrice Guerra in connection with the incident. Both are currently jailed without bond.
According to investigators, Bopp arrived at his home in the 11900 block of Freemans Ford Road on April 22 while it was being broken into.

They say he was shot next to his vehicle when he arrived at the home. He was the son of retired Major Charles Bopp Jr.

FAUQUIER COUNTY, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - The suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a retired Fauquier County sheriff s deputy s son was located and arrested in Pecos, Texas yesterday, according to the Fauquier County Sheriff s Office.
Martin Anuar Martinez, 30, of Manassas was found in Texas by the FBI. He remains in custody there awaiting extradition back to Virginia for charges of murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, armed daytime burglary and use of a firearm in commission of a felony in connection with the death of Charles Bopp III.
