Onstage at the Majestic: A Queen B, new Mountain Top concerts

CONWAY — The local musical beehive is abuzz with news of last week’s arrival of Mountain Top Music Center’s new Steinway grand piano — affectionately nicknamed “Queen B” (after its Steinway model number) — now at home on stage at the iconic Majestic Theatre in Conway Village and poised to host the restart of Mountain Top’s popular concert series, beginning later this month. Before Steinway’s “Queen B” came to Conway, she graced the stage of UMass, Lowell from 1976-2006; then, after a full renovation by the master craftsmen of M. Steinert & Sons in Boston, piano students honed their craft on her keys at the home of Cape Cod piano teacher Mary Lou Holland (1930-2020).

Valley Voice: Thanks, Santa for the early present: snow!

HO, HO, HO, to all ye fellow last-minute shopping elves. Looks like Santa gave us all what we most wanted for Christmas — snow! Although we didn’t get the jackpot that other parts of New Hampshire received, we’ll take the 6-11 inches that the Nor’incher (as my buddy Roy “the Skiing DJ” Prescott of WMWV 93.5-FM’s “Morning Weather Show” likes to call it) did give us Thursday. According to WMUR-TV 9 meteorologist Mike Haddad, top N.H. snow ville was  Croydon with 44 inches, followed by Claremont with 43, Springfield with 42, Cornish with 40 and New London (36 inches). AFTER THURSDAY’S FRESHIES, IT WAS WONDERFUL Friday morning to take in the always spectacular sight of new snow and dazzling sunshine.
