LATE night shopping at the Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman bazaar has come to an abrupt stop following the implementation of the movement control order.
The authorities confirmed that the annual Hari Raya Aidilfitri bazaar in Kuala Lumpur would close from today in compliance with the Federal Government’s directive.
A Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) spokesperson said this followed Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri’s directive for all bazaars in MCO areas to cease operations.
Federal Hawkers and Petty Traders Association president Datuk Seri Rosli Sulaiman, when contacted, said bazaar traders started packing up their belongings yesterday.

Adopt global standard to ensure road traffic safety, food delivery service companies told

KUALA LUMPUR: Employers especially those in the food delivery service should pay close attention to the safety of their employees, says Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.
The Alliance for Safe Community chairman said such employers or companies should adopt ISO39001, which is a global standard for the road traffic safety management.
"The system is important as it symbolises the commitment of companies in managing road traffic safety for their employees.
"Road traffic safety management should be the responsibility of the employer or organisation... it should not be left to the employee alone," he said when contacted on Monday (April 5).
Lee said ISO39001 is a form of guideline to help prevent and reduce the risk of road related deaths or serious injuries.

For better or for worse

Once described as a gold mine, businesses in both Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion are no longer drawing the crowd.
TAILOR Vimala Devi Ramayah, 66, was spotted meticulously sewing saree blouses in her small shop on the second floor of the Malayan Mansion in Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur.
Bent over her old sewing machine, she barely noticed when the StarMetro team walked into her humble yet charming establishment called Valli Tailors.
Vimala’s 37-year-old tailor daughter, Jeyamalar Balasubramaniam, also looked up, offered a smile and continued with her sewing.
Both women were engrossed in the task at hand — stitching saree blouses for an upcoming wedding — which is a rarity these days.
