Rapid Fired to fire up 2nd West Virginia store

Rapid Fired Pizza will open its second West Virginia store late this summer of this year on Murdoch Avenue in Parkersburg, according to a news release. The 2,300-square-foot restaurant seats 45 and will bring 35 jobs to the area.
The location's owner/operator is Tyler Dunham.

PARKERSBURG — The city’s annual paving project starts next week, with some overnight work on Murdoch Avenue beginning today.
A new plating system for the floodwall gate crossing Murdoch Avenue was installed in March. Work on the second phase begins at 8 p.m. today, with a crew paving the approaches to the plates to provide a smooth transition, according to a release from City Engineer Adam Stout.

PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports March 15:
* From March 8-14, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office answered 310 calls, including: 22 traffic stops; 43 complaints by phone and in person; 22 domestic calls and domestic protective orders served; 15 suspicious person(s) and vehicles; five check area, subject, welfare; 16 disorderly subject, motorist; 10 accidents; 13 larceny; two mental hygiene order/pick up/transport; 13 intrusion alarms; and 11 warrant service.
* On March 8, a deputy spoke with the complainant who lives on Emerson Avenue who reported that someone had destroyed her mailbox and had ran over a bag of trash. There were no suspects and only wished for the information to be documented at this time.

* Dalton Drummond, 27, of Parkersburg, was arrested Dec. 18 on charges of driving under suspended and fleeing from an officer.
* Douglas Shafer, 39, of Waverly, was arrested Dec. 19 on a warrant.
* Christopher Hunt, 28, of Parkersburg, was arrested Dec. 19 on a domestic battery charge.
* Faith Maston, 27, of Parkersburg, was arrested Dec. 19 on a domestic battery charge.
* Eric Vest, 41, was arrested Dec. 20 on a burglary charge.
* Ashley Yoho, 30, of Loudonville, Ohio, was arrested Dec. 20 on a capias.
* On Dec. 18, officers responded to Family Dollar on Seventh Street in reference to shoplifting.

Parkersburg PD seeks hit-and-run vehicle, driver | News, Sports, Jobs

PARKERSBURG — Police are searching for an SUV and driver they say struck and killed a man crossing Murdoch Avenue on Tuesday evening.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. when a white Honda CRV was traveling north on Murdoch near the traffic island in the 2600 block, Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin said.
Warren Earl Moyer Jr., 41, of Parkersburg, was crossing the road from the west side, not in a crosswalk, when he was hit and dragged a distance, Martin said. The vehicle left the scene.
“He (Moyer) was walking home from work,” the chief said.
The man was taken from the scene to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Martin said.

UPDATE: Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin says the vehicle in question is a white, 2007 to 2010 Honda CRV.
PARKERSBURG – Police are searching for a vehicle that struck and killed a Parkersburg man Tuesday night as he was walking home from work.
Warren Earl Moyer Jr., 41, was hit and dragged by an automobile around 8:30 p.m. while crossing Murdoch Avenue near the traffic island in the 2600 block of Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin said. Moyer was pronounced dead at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center.
Police are trying to locate a white Honda, possibly an SUV, with noticeable front-end damage, Martin said.

Fatal hit and run investigation underway in Parkersburg

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — A criminal investigation is underway in Parkersburg after a man was struck and killed by a car Tuesday night.
The deadly collision occurred at Murdoch Avenue and Park Center Drive at about 8:30 p.m. The driver didn’t stop.
Anybody who saw what happened is asked to call Parkersburg police at 304-485-8501.
