Judge Janet A. Haynes, 75
The Hon. Janet A. (Soderberg) Haynes, retired chief judge of the Kent County Probate Court, died Dec. 16. She was 75.
Judge Haynes was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, at Keesler AFB and raised in Marquette. She earned her BA in secondary education and her BS in nursing from Northern Michigan University, and her law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
Judge Haynes served as president of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and was recognized as a YWCA of West Central MI Tribute Honoree.
Judge Haynes is survived by daughters, Erin M. Haynes Verigin and Kelsey E. Haynes Bako; five grandchildren; a brother; two sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.
