Local Fourth of July festivities return Independence Day in Prineville will have a much more traditional look this year Independence Day in Prineville will have a more traditional look this year after the community saw much of the festivities canceled in 2020. The day-long slate of festivities begins at 7 a.m. Sunday with the Kiwanis Club of Prineville s annual Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast. For $6 – or free if you are 6 years old or younger – you can enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage, plus juice and milk. The breakfast will take place at the Prineville City Hall Plaza and concludes at 10 a.m. ....
First phase of Rails to Trails project completed Besides a few final fixes, the trail is done between Combs Flat Road, Juniper Street The first portion of the Rails to Trails project is finally complete, pending some last-minute fixes to the paved pathway. The project, several years in the making, is converting the old railway easement from North Main Street to Combs Flat Road to a paved trail for pedestrian and bicycle use. The city originally landed a Rails to Trails grant through Oregon Department of Transportation in 2018, but the various issues delayed the project until late last year. Work began in December to construct the trail system between Juniper Street and Combs Flat Road. Where the trail crosses Third Street, the city added an enhanced pedestrian crossing, similar to the one found on Lynn Boulevard near Crook County High School, and a center refuge island. Embracing opportunities and addressing needs of CCSD classrooms March 16 2021 The Crook County School District board recently voted to move forward to add six new modular classrooms at CCMS The Crook County School District School Board voted on Monday, March 8 to move forward with leasing three, two-room modular classrooms at Crook County Middle School for three years. Also, at the Monday evening board meeting, there was discussion on a number of other upcoming projects that need to be addressed, as some elementary schools are nearing full capacity as well as the Crook County Middle School.
