âThe Fenton area lost a local icon Wednesday, April 21 with the death of Robert G. Harris Sr. He was 97 years old.
âHarris, a lifelong resident of Fenton, had authored seven books on Fentonâs history. He also wrote the novel, âMany Come, Few Are Chosen,â about the U.S. Marines.
âHarris graduated from Fenton High School in 1941. He went on to earn his Ph.D. and was the commencement speaker for the FHS Class of 1972. At the time, he was president of Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.
âIn a 2019 Times story written by Vera Hogan (retired associate editor), Harris had said with the 150th commencement for FHS coming up in 2022, he would be willing to give a commencement speech again, if the school would have him.
