Missouri Man Arrested in Hazard after Police Chase

A Missouri man is facing several charges after leading law enforcement on a chase in Perry Co Thursday. A KSP Trooper observed a car swerving on route 451 and attempted to make a stop, but the driver sped on. The Trooper followed the car into Hazard, when Hazard Police took over. The driver led police to Airport Gardens before ditching his vehicle. Police briefly searched the area and found Michael Royer, who was already wanted in Missouri. He now faces several charges in Kentucky, including DUI.

Man Charged with Attempted Murder near Perry-Breathitt line

According to the Perry Co Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to complaints of gunshots at a home near the Perry/Breathitt Co line Friday evening. The home was located off of Highway 476 on Feb Fork Road near the Rowdy community and arrested 31-year-old Joseph Collins. He was charged with a single count of attempted murder. The Perry Co Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate this incident.

Kentucky State Police Conducts Assault Investigation in Pike County

The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a 911 call on Sunday, April 04, 2021, regarding a shots fired complaint in Pike County.
KSP troopers and investigators responded to a residence on Chloe Road where they discovered a property dispute between neighbors had led to an altercation and one man shot.
The initial investigation indicated Jerry Coleman discharged a firearm during the altercation with five individuals.
David Taylor suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Pikeville Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jerry Coleman was transported by Lifeguard Ambulance Service to Pikeville Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

110 New COVID-19 Cases in Kentucky on Monday

On Monday, Gov. Andy Beshear said all Kentuckians 16 and older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine is approved for individuals 16 and older; the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are approved for individuals 18 and older.
“Beginning today, Kentuckians as young as 16 can sign up for their shot of hope,” said Gov. Beshear. “This means Kentucky has beaten by a full month President Joe Biden’s goal and timeline for all Americans 16 and up being able to get the vaccine. These vaccines are our ticket out of this pandemic. They are not only safe; they are saving lives.”

One Dead, One Injured in Perry Co Shooting; Suspect Arrested

According to the Kentucky State Police in Hazard, on Friday, April 2, 2021, at approximately 6:59 P.M, Perry Co 911 received a call on Slick Ford Road in the Viper Community of Perry Co in reference to a shooting complaint. Upon the request of the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, Troopers and Detectives with Kentucky State Police, Post 13, responded to the scene. Upon the arrival of KSP, they located two individuals with gunshot wounds. Timothy Bailey, 41, of Booneville, was airlifted from the scene to a medical facility to be treated for injuries sustained. Nancy Smith, 63, of Viper, was located and pronounced deceased on scene by the Perry Co Coroner’s Office.

Magoffin Co Woman Arrested on Heroin Charges

The Magoffin Co Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman recently and charged her with drug trafficking. The Sheriff’s Office was at the woman’s house to serve a bench warrant on her, but while the Deputy was at the house he spotted a bag of suspected heroin. The Deputy was given permission to search of the home and uncovered additional suspected heroin and other drugs, along with scales and drug paraphernalia. The woman was identified as 52 year-old Sheila Arnett, who now faces charges of heroin trafficking, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
