Dan Gilbert buys Stroh River Place in Detroit from Stroh family

Dan Gilbert s real estate firm has added Stroh River Place on Detroit s east riverfront to its vast collection of properties in the city.
Bedrock announced Friday that it purchased the 500,000-square-foot office complex at 300 River Place from The Stroh Companies. The building dates to 1928 when it was constructed by the old Parke-Davis & Co. pharmaceutical company.
The sprawling pharmaceutical complex and its dozens of red brick industrial buildings, including offices, laboratories and warehouses, was bought in the late 1970s by the Stroh Brewing Co. The brewing company redeveloped the complex during the 1980s and moved its headquarters to 300 River Place, the flagship building of the riverfront campus.
