The Chinese government places heavy restrictions on Hollywood filmmakers looking to get their movies into China, but for many in the industry, censorship is not seen as something new. Many look to history and point to the Hollywood Blacklist during the Cold War, and claim that the United States also had its own forms of film censorship. Yet, there are a few gaps in this story, and to fill in the missing parts in the commonly accepted narrative, we sat down for an interview with K. Lloyd Billingsley, a Policy Fellow at Independent Institute; and author of several books including “Hollywood Party” for which he collected exclusive documents from the Soviet Union and within the United States on the story behind the Hollywood Blacklist.

New Film Series 'Shared Stories' Centers The BIPOC Experience

Three steadfast leaders of Boston independent film festivals have joined forces to create a new freestanding film series that finds commonalities across the human experience.
Between them, Susan Chinsen of the Boston Asian American Film Festival (BAAFF), Sabrina Avilés of the Boston Latino International Film Festival (BLIFF) and Lisa Simmons of the Roxbury International Film Festival (RoxFilm) have accrued more than 40 years of experience helming organizations that celebrate independent film and filmmakers, with Chinsen and Simmons also credited as founders. Each have developed a loyal following of audience members who return year after year.

The internationally acclaimed and beloved John Lennon song I discussed, Imagine, will no doubt be aggressively put forth by progressives to replace our current antiquated, irrelevant and “racist”national anthem.
Lew, rather than the old Stalinist anthem of the USSR sung by Paul Robeson or The Internationale sung by Pete Seeger, this is the universally beloved song that was most appropriate for the Nelson Mandela final send-off. Here is what John Lennon himself said about his legendary anthem:
