Its first meeting was held at Bebington Oval on April 7, 1971. Meetings then took place in two caravans, one at Thurstaston Visitor Centre and one at Eastham Country Park, each weekend during the summer months. The original committee consisted of chairman Major Frank White, Margaret Gilmour, Henry Larsen, Nora MacMillan (Mrs Mac), David Mills, Jane Ratcliffe, Richard Smith and Graham Taylor. Linda Higginbottom, member of the group said: Jim Gilmour, a previous secretary to the committee, remembered passing a queue waiting for our jumble sale in Liscard and hearing a woman wondering what a ‘Conversation Trust’ actually did.

Mark Morris, lead singer of Britpop favourites The Bluetones, will perform live at Heswall Hall Music-loving residents of Wirral who have been starved of their fix of live performances during the pandemic may have some light at the end of the tunnel. Heswall Hall has announced a run of socially-distanced shows, planned to start in May and one of them features some 90 s Britpop royalty. Singer songwriter Mark Morris famously made his name fronting English indie outfit The Bluetones. Mark fronted the four piece over a successful and fruitful 15 year period, scoring 14 top ten singles and three top ten albums, whilst touring the UK, Europe and Japan, before temporarily disbanding in 2011.
