Pl;aid Cymru cemented its hold on the Carmarthen East and Dinefwr seat as party leader Adam Price romped to victory.
Plaid leader, Adam Price PLAID Cymru cemented its hold on the Carmarthen East and Dinefwr seat as party leader Adam Price romped to victory. He won with 14,427 votes in 2016 and eclipsed that this time round, polling 15,261 votes. Labour’s Rob James was runner-up with 8,448 votes, with Welsh Conservative Havard Hughes third with 7,751. There were five candidates in the running. The seat has been won by Plaid since 1999, with incumbent and former MP Mr Price serving since 2016 and, before that, Rhodri Glyn Jones. In a rousing victory speech, Mr Price said he had never felt as positive as he did now for the future of Wales.

The Ceredigion election count is under way. The counting for the Senedd Cymru election s Ceredigion constituency, along with the regional list for Mid Wales and West Wales, is now under way. Polls opened at 7am on Thursday and closed at 10pm in the first election since the legislature was renamed from the National Assembly of Wales. This year s election is different to any other, and we are working in line with Covid-19 guidelines, said a spokesperson for Ceredigion Council. The ballot boxes and the postal votes are in and election staff are busy verifying the papers for the Senedd Cymru Ceredigion constituency, the Mid and West Wales region and the Police and Crime Commissioner for the Dyfed-Powys area.
