I'm Mitch Westwood and welcome to my drum lessons info page.. . I've been playing drums for sixteen years. In that time I have been fortunate enough to play with a range of highly skilled musicians across various genres. I have been professionally teaching drums and percussion for four years and in that time I have also worked as a retail salesperson at a music store. I guess you could say that drums are my trade but they are more than just that - they are my passion.. . My approach to teaching is specifically catered to each student with an emphasis on making the mundane rituals of practice fun. I like to equip every student with the necessary skills to explore their own playing and perception of drums and percussion in the context of the music they like. Rudiments, counting, reading sheet music, technique and feel are all essential learning points which I cover with students, as well as sharing what I have learned about the music industry in my sixteen years operating in it. I teach from the age of 7 and up and from complete beginner to intermediate.. . My teaching space is in Bayswater, Victoria and is fully loaded with multiple acoustic and electronic drums kits as well as various percussion items.. . PRICING:. . - Lessons are half an hour, one on one for $30 dollars per lesson. . It is preferred that a full term be booked and paid for up front or there is the option of payment made on a three weekly basis. Once off lessons are considered on a student by student basis.. . AVAILABILITY:. . - My teaching schedule is from 3:30PM through till 6:30PM - Monday to Friday.
