Depois de quase 40 anos, o Brasil possui cerca de 33 mil hectares de pomares de maçã, uma produção anual próxima a 1,35 milhões de toneladas, com geração de R$ 6 bilhões em riquezas para o País e mais de 150 mil empregos diretos e indiretos. Atualmente, a cada dez maçãs consumidas no Brasil, nove são nacionais. A fruta é a terceira de maior consumo no País, de acordo com o IBGE.. . Segundo a Organização das Nações Unidas para Agricultura e Alimentação (FAO), o Brasil está entre os 12 maiores produtores de maçã do mundo.
