Detailed description is www.afufc.com. . สโมสรฟุตบอลแอร์ฟอร์ซ ยูไนเต็ด หรือ สโมสรฟุตบอลทหารอากาศ เริ่มก่อตั้งเมื่อ ปี พ.ศ. 2489 โดยจอมพลอากาศ เฉลิมพระเกียรติวัฒนางกูล ผู้บัญชาการทหารอากาศ โดยร่วมสมัยกับทีมต่างๆในอดีต อาทิ ทีมธนาคารรวม ทีมมุสลิม ทีมชายสด ทีมมหรสพ ซึ่งถือเป็นทีมฟุตบอลชั้นนำในช่วงเวลาดังกล่าว. . โดยสโมสรฯ สามารถคว้าแชมป์ถ้วยพระราชทานประเภท ก. ซึ่งถึงได้ว่าเป็นการแข่งขันที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดในสมัยนั้นรวมทั้งสิ้น 12 ครั้ง และในจำนวนนี้เป็นการครองแชมป์ติดต่อกัน 7 สมัยซ้อนซึ่งเป็นเป็นสถิติที่ยังไม่มีใครทำลายได้เลยนับจากอดีตจนปัจจุบัน. . รวมไปถึงการทำสถิติของประเทศไทย ในการชนะเลิศถ้วยพระราชทานครบทุกถ้วย คือ ถ้วยพระราชทานประเภท ก. ข. ค. และ ง. อันเป็นเกียรติประวัติยาวนานจนถึงบัดนี้ รวมไปถึง การชนะเลิศถ้วยพระราชทานควีนส์คัพ , มวก.คัพ , แชมป์พรีเมียร์ลีก , แชมป์เอฟเอคัพ , แชมป์โตโยต้าคัพ ฯลฯ เรียกได้ว่า หากจะมีการจัดการแข่งขันในระดับนานาชาติใหม่ๆแบบใดก็ตาม สโมสรฟุตบอลทหารอากาศแห่งนี้จะเป็นผู้คว้าชัยในปีแรกของการจัดการแข่งขันเสมอมา. . ตลอดระยะเวลายาวนานที่ผ่านมา สโมสรฯ ได้หล่อหลอมขัดเกลา และบ่มเพาะนักฟุตบอลออกมาอย่างมากมายและมีนักเตะจำนวนไม่น้อยก้าวไปเป็นกำลังสำคัญให้กับทีมชาติ รวมไปถึงระตับดาราเอเชียอีกหลายคน ไม่ว่าจะเป็น ปิยะพงษ ผิวอ่อน , นราศักดิ์ บุญเกลี้ยง , ประทีป ปานขาว , ชลอ หงษ์ขจร , วีระพงษ์ เพ็งลี , วิชิต เสชนะไพโรจน์ พ่วงจันทร์ และอีกมากมาย หลายสิบหลายร้อยท่าน ที่ไม่สามารถเอ่ยนามได้อย่างครบถ้วน. อย่างไรก็ตาม แม้ว่าช่วงเวลาที่รุ่งโรจน์บนเส้นทางลูกหนังจะถดถอยลงตามกาลเวลา แต่สโมสรฯก็ยังคงเข้าร่วมในการแข่งขันหลายๆระดับชั้นต่อมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน แม้จะไม่สามารถสร้างเกียรติยศเทียบเท่ากับยุคอดีต แต่ก็มิได้ย่อท้อต่ออุปสรรค ด้วยแรงใจที่มุ่งมั่นที่จะทำให้สโมสรฯกลับมาสร้างตำนานและทวงคืนความยิ่งใหญ่ดังเช่นในอดีตที่ผ่านมา. . และในวันที่ 19 กุมภาพันธุ์ 2553 ที่ผ่านมา สโมสรฟุตบอลทหารอากาศ ได้เปลี่ยนแปลงตราสัญลักษณ์ และทำการปรับปรุงระบบการทำงานเข้าสู่ความเป็นมืออาชีพ ตามกฏเกณฑ์และระเบียบต่างๆที่สมาคมฟุตบอลแห่งประเทศไทยในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์และสมาคมฟุตบอลแห่งเอเชียได้กำหนดไว้ถึงการเป็นนิติบุคคลอย่างสมบูรณ์เพื่อให้เข้าสู่มาตรฐานการแข่งขันหนึ่งเดียวกับนานาชาติ โดยได้ร่วมกับบริษัท แอร์ฟอร์ซ ยูไนเต็ด จำกัด เพื่อทำการ Re-Branding สู่ชื่อและภาพลักษณ์ใหม่ภายใต้ชื่อ สโมสรฟุตบอลแอร์ฟอร์ซ ยูไนเต็ด หรือ Air Force United Football Club ร่วมกับสโมสรสมาชิกอื่นๆอีกว่าร้อยองค์กร สำหรับการแข่งขันฟุตบอล ตราบจนถึงปัจจุบันนี้
