Ce beffroi, classé depuis le, relève du Patrimoine majeur de Wallonie et fait partie des beffrois de Belgique et de France classés au patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco depuis le. Il est le seul du pays construit en style baroque. Mesurant 87 mètres, il domine la ville de Mons, elle-même construite sur une colline.HistoireC'est Louis Ledoux qui en fut l'architecte. Il en dirigea les travaux de 1662 à sa mort survenue en 1667. Le travail fut poursuivi de 1667 à 1669 par Vincent Anthony.
