Northern Uganda has suffered the fate of a brutal 22 year long war, has been victim to the most horrific atrocities known to man and now the people are subject to extreme poverty, disease, famine and political instability. The region of the North was recently stated by a UN official as being "the most under-reported humanitarian disaster of all time." In order to survive in post war Northern Uganda, extensive help is needed. We are dedicated to supporting their fight for life, recovery and peace.. . The donated and restored bicycles will go to former child soldiers in rehabilitation, children in orphanages and to the most isolated and needy IDP (Internally Displaced People) camps in the region to provide access to basic human needs such as food, water and vital medical aid.. . We are also donating bikes to disadvantaged children and underprivileged groups in Australia. Beneficiaries range from marginalised indigenous communities to under-resourced orphanages and foster care centres in Papua New Guinea & East Timor.. . *Help save the people and add to the revival of a most neglected yet peaceful people, known as the Acholi of Northern Uganda and Southern Sudan.. . *Bikes can save lives of women and children that are dying everyday due to preventable diseases.... . *Bikes will allow access to and from the remote locations of the camps, promoting Community outreach and peace building.. . *Bikes will also be beneficial in terms of the economic recovery, aiding in areas such as agriculture.. .
