Viel älter als vermutet ist die Brackstedter Mühle: Bei den Recherchen zur Chronik „500 Jahre Brackstedt“ kam es zutage: Die erste urkundliche Erwähnung der Brackstedter Mühle war nicht 1636 sondern schon 200 Jahre früher, genau gesagt 1434. . Seit 1912 wird die Brackstedter Mühle auch gastronomisch betrieben und ist seit nunmehr 80 Jahren fest in der Hand einer Familie. Über Schulze und Streicher/Othmer zu Schuster haben drei Generationen das Bild der heutigen Brackstedter Mühle geprägt.. Keineswegs alt und verstaubt geht es allerdings heute in der Brackstedter Mühle zu.
