It started as a passion project out of his apartment with a desire to develop an online community for showcasing and selling cars online. It was in Orlando that he also met co-founder Othniel McLean.. . In late 2008 Bryan made his first trip to Orange County, CA to visit a friend and additional co-founder James Thomas who had moved out west to write software for Oakley. After a night cruise with the top down along PCH, a morning visit to his first Cars & Coffee in Irvine ( http://nja.mx/cars-and-coffee-08 ) and a random mid day spotting of a herd of bulls ( http://nja.mx/gallardos-08 ) it was clear that this is where CarNinja needed to be in the Mecca of automotive culture. Several months later it was done and CarNinja had roots in SoCal!. . With a background in development and marketing automotive software over the following years CarNinja was approached to develop numerous software platforms for other automotive brands which really kickstarted it's momentum. It was during this time that the fourth co-founder and fellow software engineer James Wagoner joined on.. . Getting into the automotive scene in SoCal started with a Canon 40D and another passion, photography. Bryan started to shoot at a bunch of automotive events and publish pics online. Skip a few years ahead this grew into CarNinja working with many other local photographers and becoming known for their media presence at all the events and major rallies locally and nationwide. CarNinja grew to become major event promoter began organizing and running their own car events.. . While attending SEMA late 2012 with the team CarNinja learned a couple days into the show of a hackathon being ran by Pioneer AppRadio. The team entered the competition that day, stayed up all night putting together an idea and ended up winning in their category of location based services the following day. This ignited and old lingering passion to get back to making a consumer / enthusiast application.. . Mid 2013 CarNinja entered into the first ever SEMA YEN competition for young entrepreneurs in automotive. The team pitched the idea for Vendors a now matured version of the original vision from 2007 and were selected a one of the 5 teams to present at SEMA that year.. . Coming off of the success at SEMA. CarNinja ramped up development on CarNinja.com to produce it’s first version of Vendors which launched as a private beta mid 2014 with around 100 vendors in SoCal. After several months of feedback from companies and enthusiasts on the product and a couple more of revisions the second release was launched mid 2015 to a gated audience with public launch slated for the end of 2015.
