“Casa al Castello“ is a charming and comfortable guest house, located in the famous area of Val di Noto, cradle of the late-baroque art and architecture, more exactly in the land of Modica, city part of the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LIST.
The house lies on a rocky spur over the suggestive rupestral construction of so-called “Castello“ (“THE CASTLE“), in a such singular as exclusive position.
The building overlooks the well-known Cava d’Ispica, a long rocky valley (for about 13 km) that preserves numberless archaeological testimonies and contains important species of the Mediterranean flora and fauna (it’s an area SCI: SITE OF COMMUNITY IMPORTANCE).
The location of our house allows to easily reach the golden beaches of Pozzallo, Sampieri, S.
Lorenzo, Cala Mosche, as well as the natural oisis of Vendicari and also the Southern extremity of Sicily with its sea town of Portopalo of Capo Passero (at a distance of about 15-35 km).
From here it’s also easy to reach the charming baroque-cities of Ragusa, Scicli and Noto (at about 15-30 km).
The house, at its origin, residence for the sharecroppers, has been restored using natural construction materials, typical for this zone, as dry-stone and wood; now it includes six comfortable rooms, each of them with private entrance and bathroom, air conditioning and all connected to the large terrace from where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over the entire cave.

“Casa al Castello“ est une charmante et accueillante maison de vacances, située dans la zone de la Vallée de Noto, vrai berceau de l’art et de l’architecture du baroque tardif, plus précisément sur le territoire de Modica, cité inscrite dans le Patrimoine Culturel de L’Umanité par l’Unesco.
La maison se trouve sur un éperon rocheux au-dessus de ce suggestif édifice en rocher, qu’on appelle “Castello“ (“Le Château”), dans une position tant singulière qu’exclusive.
L’édifice règne sur la fameuse Cava d’Ispica, une longue vallée rocheuse (d’environ 13 Km) qui garde de nombreux témoignages archéologiques et qui comprend de très importantes espèces de la flore et de la faune méditerranéennes (c’est une aire SIC: SITE D’IMPORTANCE COMMUNAUTAIRE).
La position de la maison permet d’arriver facilement sur les plages dorées de Pozzallo, Sampieri, S.

Das Haus befindet sich auf einem Felsvorsprung oberhalb einer ehemals sikulischen Ansiedlung, einer natuerlichen Felsenfestung - dem “Castello”, in ebenso ungewoehnlicher wie exklusiver Lage.
Die Struktur dominiert ueber die Schlucht “Cava Ispica”, ein 13 Km langer Canyon mit zahlreichen archaeologischen Zeugnissen und einer vielfaeltigen mediterranen Flora und Fauna (Zone “SIC” - wichtiges, zu schuetzendes Allgemeingut).
Im Umkreis von 15 km bis 35 Km erreicht man bequem die hellen Sandstraende von Pozzallo, Sampieri, S.
Lorenzo und die wunderschoene Badebucht “Cala Mosche” in dem Naturschutzgebiet Vendicari, ebenso den kleinen Ort Portopalo di Capo Passero - den suedlichsten Punkt Siziliens, im selben Radius liegen auch die Barockstaedte Ragusa Ibla, Scicli und Noto.
Das Gebaeude, urspruenglich von Landpaechtern bewohnt, wurde mit lokalen und natuerlichen Materialen renoviert - dem hellen Kalkstein von Modica und Holz.
