It is run by the principal, Hal David and Polk School District currently under Superintendent Marvin Williams. Our school was founded in 1887 and has been in existence for 121 years. We have a long, rich tradition in academics, athletics, band, and more recently drama. " -- Hal David, PrincipalHistoryThe school was founded in 1887 and grew with the town into a new age. In 1903 the school created a football team with the mascot "The Cedartown Bulldogs." By the 1930s, the school was rebuilt in a new location in order to contain the growing teenage population of the town. Vocational or "elective" classes weren't added until the 1930s and finally a school band was added in 1941. In 1970 the school rebuilt once again in a different location in the town and was one of the first comprehensive high schools in the area.On average, Cedartown High School enrolls around 1200 students per year, classifying them as a 3A school by the Georgia High School Association. They still go by the bulldog as a mascot, which they interpret to symbolize strength and endurance.
