Detailed description is Le Château du Barroux est un monument historique de Vaucluse, situé dans la ville du Barroux.HistoireDès sa création, le château est le siège seigneurial de la famille des Baux. Jusqu'au, le site change plusieurs fois de propriétaires, notamment des familles de Budos, de Ricavi, de Peyre, de Cardaillac, de Rovigliasc, de Pelletier de Gigondas et de Noret.Mis à mal durant la Révolution française, puis par son abandon total, il tombe en ruine, jusqu'à la fin des années 1920. L'industriel André Vayson de Pradennes entreprend en 1929 une restauration de l'édifice. Après la mort accidentelle de ce mécène, en 1939, et l'occupation des lieux par l'armée allemande et l'incendie volontaire le 21 août 1944, durant le conflit mondial, les travaux de restaurations sont suspendus. Ils reprennent dans les années 1960, sous la direction mécénale du Docteur Mouliérac-Lamoureux. En 1983, une association, les Amis du Château du Barroux, prend le relais pour la sauvegarde de ce patrimoine.Le site est inscrit monument historique par arrêté du, puis classé monument historique par arrêté du.ConstructionLe début de la construction du château du Barroux date du, par un donjon de type médiéval.
