Detailed description is Information on working fires and incidents in the Eastern Panhandle of WV. Follow us on Twitter @EPWFires or www.epwfires.com. Notice: Content within this site may be disturbing to some individuals. There may be graphic photos or videos or stories of real emergency incidents in which our local heroes respond. . . **WARNING**-Some may be offended, but at times we make humorous posts. Humorous posts are intended to simply have a little fun, to blow off some steam, or to relay information through satire. They are not intended to poke fun at serious situations or to make fun of individuals involved. . . This is a place to provide information and updates on working fires and other incidents in the Eastern Pahnandle of West Virginia (Counties of Jefferson, Berkeley, Morgan, Hampshire, Hardy, Mineral, Grant and Pendleton). . Follow us on Twitter @EPWFires. . Visit our Web site and MAKE IT your HOME page: www.epwfires.com. . First things first, we appreciate you and are glad your here. The mission of EPWF is simple: to inform and educate the community on just what it is that YOUR emergency responders do. We do this by posting on incidents, providing insight, and posting informative notes in the "Notes" section - please check them out. Our hope is that this information will give you a greater appreciation for those who serve you daily without requesting thanks.. . First about our Admins:. 1) Our Admins are volunteer and take time out of their day to post on incidents they hear. We do not expect or request that they post about 100% of calls. Please be patient with us. We will do what we can, when we can.. 2) Also, we do our absolute best to get you all the proper information. At times, we may not have all the details. Emergency incidents by their very nature change rapidly, and NOTHING we post has been properly vetted. Again, I ask you to be patient. We will continue to do the best we can as we can, and post the most factual details we can.. 2) Our Admins will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER post names or vehicle descriptions whether you request them or not. It is not our intent to be a notification system for friends and family. With this said, please don't ask. We will ONLY share what we hear over radio transmissions, and even then we are selective. Certain things just don't need to be broadcasted.. 3) All of our Admins have some Fire/EMS/Law experience. They range from local volunteers (or retired) in the fire system to past law enforcement, to paid large city Fire/EMS staff. The reason I share this is that we all know what we are talking about.. 4) Please know, without a doubt, that this page will NOT post anything unless it is accompanied by a law enforcement, fire, or EMS dispatch. No rumors or hearsay will be posted by an Admin of this page. IT has all been shared over the emergency communications channels. . . Now, a couple guidelines for you to follow:. . 1) Do NOT post names, vehicle descriptions, or other information that could lead to identification of those involved. We do not frequently delete posts, but if this is the case, we will quickly do so. Again, we do not want to be a notification system. If your Uncle Jim was involved in the car crash, leave his name out of it, please.. 2) Keep it civil. This is an open forum, however, keep in mind that no matter what incident we post about, be it an MVA, a house fire, or a medical call, SOMEONES family is involved EVERY time. Please be respectful of those family members. Ask yourself how you would appreciate the post you typed if it was your friend or family.. 3) Content within this site may be disturbing to some individuals. There may be graphic photos or videos or stories of real emergency incidents in which our local heroes respond. That's the point! To share with you what our local hero's are doing. However, if that's not the type of post you want to read, this may not be the place for you.. 4) All information shared on this page is done so in an open format. The Administrators of this page will monitor and remove any false, flagrant information (i.e. keep it clean, accurate, harmless). However, we will NOT discourage accurate, true statements from being shared. . . Please keep posts made to factual information or questions. We appreciate your concern for those involved, but the fewer unrelated comments the better. . 5) This page is in no way associated with a fire/rescue/EMS organization. All opinions and statements are that of the individual, and in no way represent that of a organization they may be affiliated with.. 6) There is always a certain amount of rumor associated with emergency incidents. No rumors are welcome here. Too many people rely on us for factual, accurate, true information and we refuse to allow anything other than that. As said above, things change, and not information posted here is vetted. Therefore, we ask you to do the same, please refrain from posting about rumors or hearsay. . 7) We do our best to keep a "blog" of sorts updated in the "Notes" section of the page. Please find and read the valuable information contained in those notes. . 8) NO Advertising. It will be removed... quickly. . . . We understand that at times our posts will include certain jargon and abbreviations that are only familiar to those within the Fire/EMS/Law fields. TO make things easier, we have published a "Note" titled "What's That Mean: A Guide to Our Abbreviations". Please find and read this information to better understand our posts. . . We also have a note regarding what the company number (i.e. CO 3) and corresponding company name are. For instance, in our post you may see "Jefferson - Co. 3" - use this note as a tool to identify Co. 3 as Shepherdstown - we may or may not spell it out for you. . . . *Disclaimer: All information shared on this page is done so in an open format. The Administrators of this page will monitor and remove any false, flagrant information (i.e. keep it clean, accurate, harmless). However, we will NOT discourage accurate, true statements from being shared. This page is in no way associated with a fire/rescue/EMS organization. All opinions and statements are that of the individual, and in no way represent that of a organization they may be affiliated with.
