Es war vielleicht die erste Petition aus der Oberpfalz an die hohe Obrigkeit in München:. . 1738 baten die Arbeiter des Hüttenwerks Bodenwöhr ihren Kurfürsten. Karl Albrecht um die Errichtung eines eigenen “praunen Brauhauses”,. um sie vom nicht besonders wohlschmeckenden Import-Trunk aus. den umliegenden Ortschaften zu befreien.. . Schon damals mahlten die Mühlen des Staates langsam.. . 1758, also 20 Jahre später, konnte der erste Braumeister, Peter Still aus. Fischbach (Onkel des berühmten Pater Barnabas) am Hammersee. seine Arbeit aufnehmen.. . 1759 belief sich die Produktion auf 800 Eimer (Eimer = 64 Maß). Peter Still starb noch im selben Jahr und in den nächsten Jahrzehnten kristallisierte sich heraus, dass ein “Churfürstliches Brauhaus” zwar einen schönen Namen hat, dass es aber dennoch besser wäre, die Leitung in sorgfältige private Hände zu geben. Daher entschloss sich das Kurfürstentum Bayern 1804 zur Privatisierung.. . 1884 erwarb Johann Baptist Jacob, Urgroßvater des heutigen Inhabers Marcus Jacob, das Unternehmen. Die nächsten beiden Generationen Jacob (jeweils mit Vornamen Friedrich) übernahmen seinen Pioniergeist und den eisernen Willen, den Betrieb zugunsten der Qualität und der Mitarbeiter stets auf dem Laufenden zu halten.. . Lohn der Mühe: Seit 1994 wird das Jacob Weißbier ununterbrochen mit dem Goldenen DLG-Preis prämiert.
