Detailed description is Horse and Cockatoo Sanctuary in Alabama for the unwanted, abused, neglected, misplaced, and handicapped cockatoos and horses and those sent to slaughter. Feathered Friends Cockatoo and Horse Sanctuary is offering a special sponsorship program in order to help support our horses as well as promote horsemanship and educate the community on proper care and maintenance of horses. For the low price of $50 a month you can choose to sponsor one of our horses. If it is a horse that can be ridden, that is encouraged. You can take your horse away trail riding or you can ride in a pasture near the barn or on backroads around the barn. If you do not have a horse trailer and want to take a horse on a ride, we can rent a horse trailer to you for a small fee. You can schedule visits with the horse that you sponsor and will be able to groom, train, or just spend time with your new friend. Sponsorship for each horse can be as short as one month or as long as you wish. I am a sanctuary, meaning that I do not adopt or foster any permanent residents here. Some of our rescues are available for adoption with an adoption fee and contract. The $50 a month sponsorship fee, if you choose to sponsor, will not even cover all the cost of feed for one horse but it certainly helps! We also offer horse riding lessons and horse riding birthday parties for children. Various fund raisers are held throughout the year, including fall festivals, church events, business events, school events, and nativity events.
