Sophie Contreras is a latin dancer and fully qualified Physiotherapist, Pilates teacher and group fitness instructor.. . Sophie began latin dance in 2000 with a grounding in Latin Ballroom before taking up salsa a few years later. Sophie has performed and taught salsa for many years in Australia, the UK and Greece.. After travelling extensively through South America Sophie fell in love with the samba rhythms of Brazil and after initially learning samba in Melbourne, Sophie moved to London to further progress as a dancer and teacher. She performed and trained with DanceMyWay Brazilian and Latin Dance Company under the coaching of celebrity dace teacher Monika Molnar at Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden. Sophie also learned Monika Molnar's unique LACORE technique and style of latin jazz and became a teacher in both samba and latin jazz for the DanceMyWay Academy in 2013. . . As well as her dance experience, Sophie is also a qualified Physiotherapist, group fitness instructor and Pilates teacher trained in the internationally recognised APPI method. As well as teaching Pilates in both the rehabilitation and fitness settings, including at the English National Ballet, Sophie has lectured internationally for APPI, delivering Pilates teacher training courses to health professionals in Australia, the UK, throughout Europe and Brazil. Sophie combines her Physio and Pilates knowledge with dance teaching - helping her students to gain a deeper awareness of their body and how to create the movement required.
