In 1905 after extensive renovation his home became a guest house- second only in town to the Victoria Hotel across the road as the place to stay. . As a guest house, it provided a grand dining room complete with silver service - which was also open to the public. During the second world war it was the place for accommodation dining and dancing for the service men and women and the Geraldton Community. . Over the years the property morphed through several different styles of accommodation until in the mid 1990's the Meguiness's- a Mother and son team- converted it into a backpackers. . We are third owners of the backpackers with each owner making their own style and now it is an award winning backpackers catering for the International backpacking community. . We took over in 2011 and have decorated the private rooms and reception area sympathetic to the buildings architecture, enhancing it's features on the inside. Our first task was to total revamp the kitchen giving it a complete overhaul. . Foreshore Backpackers would be Geraldton's oldest continuousy run accommodation facility. Offering accommodation for travellers for 110 years (in 2014).
