Fresh Start Recovery Programme (FSRP) is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1997, after its founder Dr George O’Neil treated several pregnant women battling with heroin dependence as part of his work in obstetrics and gynaecology. The women and their families were desperate for treatment options that would lead to an opiate free life. In his search for alternatives, Dr O’Neil has become an advocate for non-addictive medical treatments. . . Since 1997, FSRP has grown to incorporate a diverse range of treatment options for patients and their families struggling with addiction. Treatment is available for patients struggling with opiate, alcohol, amphetamine, benzodiazepine, cannabis dependence and poly drug use. FSRP has treated over 9 000 patients, including numerous patients who come from interstate and overseas for treatment. The organisation is based on a holistic approach to treatment, with emphasis placed on multifaceted treated, tailored to the individual. Services available include GP consultations, pharmacotherapies, hepatitis C treatment, counselling, chaplaincy, pathology services, education and training, housing and rehabilitation. .
