Detailed description is From the Back of the Line is a documentary exploring the impact of immigration policies on mixed-immigration status families living and working in Charlotte, NC. The film is produced by Armando Bellmas and Hannah Levinson and directed by Toby Shearer.. From the Back of the Line aims to increase awareness of the impact of U.S. immigration policies on families, and to add dimensionality to the national public discourse surrounding the U.S. immigration system. The film documents the struggles of individuals caught in low-priority deportation procedures, parents raising mixed-status families, and high school and college-aged students who have lived in the United States since childhood.. . In conversations about undocumented immigrants and immigration reform, those at the center of the conversation are often discussed abstractly--as numbers and statistics--and the realities of their unique lives, hopes, struggles and dreams are seldom considered. We hope to bring light to the dark corners of immigration dialogue and to remind our community that no human can ever be "illegal". Our goal is that, even if we only slightly reframe this discussion for our viewers, that the film increases understanding and deepens perspectives amongst our neighbors in the Charlotte region and beyond..
