In 1975 the Winston Hills Martial Arts Academy was introduced to the Northmead Hills area of NSW by Sensei "Chic" McGregor Black Belt (Sandan), Brierley Bailey 1st Kyu (Brown Belt) and Ern Manley 5th Kyu (Yellow Belt). Training consisted of a Junior class, Senior class and a self defence class.. . All of these people were members of the Independent School of Ju-Jitsu which operated out of the Pendle Hill High School under a program of Adult Education at the Evening College. In November of 1976 Brierley Bailey was graded by a senior panel of Black Belts, "Chic" McGregor, Serge Dubrovich and Boyd Braidwood to the rank of Shodan Black Belt.. . In the early part of the Winston Hills Martial Arts Academy and due to work commitments, Sensei McGregor and Ern Manley found they could not carry on with their teaching duties and left the club to be conducted by Sensei Bailey.. . In July, 1994 and having considerable consultation with senior Black Belts within and outside our style it was considered that the name Winston Hills Martial Arts Academy did not do justice to our particular art. It was then decided to change the name to Goshin Ju Jitsu Kan.. . Goshin Ju Jitsu Kan was privileged to have the use of the hall at the Hills Special School for disadvantaged children in Northmead NSW. The club is still in existence today (move to a new location).. . Whilst carrying out his duties as Chief Instructor of Goshin Ju Jitsu Kan and holding the position of National Secretary for the Australian Ju Jitsu Association Inc. Sensei Bailey was awarded the Medal in the Order of Australia (OAM). This award was made in the Queen's Birthday Honours on the 12th June, 1995.. . In 1999 Sensei Bailey retired from the legal firm where he worked for 16 years in Parramatta and moved to Queensland.. . Under Sensei Bailey's tuition came four Black Belts - Shihan Gary Davis (Rokudan - 6th Dan) Ken Bowers (SanDan - 3rd Dan) and Damian Bowers (SanDan - 3rd Dan). Shihan Gary Davis is in charge of the Northmead and Burwood Dojo.. . In 2004 Shihan Gary Davis was honoured with the presentation by the Minister for Sport of the Australian Commonwealth Sports Achievement Award for services to and involvement in Martial Arts.. .
