Detailed description is GTU wants to encourage students/faculties to participate actively in the Open Source movement... GTU has introduce OSTC for the same. In the first phase GTU had brought an opportunity for the students/faculties as well as colleges’ administrative staff for obtaining a certificate from IIT Bombay while working in their college lab through a tie up with Spoken Tutorial Team – IIT-Bombay.. The Spoken Tutorial project is about teaching and learning a particular FOSS (Free and Open Source oftware) like Linux, Scilab, LaTeX, PHP & MySQL, Java, C/C++, Libre Office etc. via an easy Video tool - Spoken Tutorials. The Spoken Tutorial project is the initiative of the ‘Talk to a Teacher’ activity of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India.
