Detailed description is GUNKAN東新宿. 名称：第3スカイビル(鉄のマンション). 通称：軍艦マンション. 竣工：1970年. 建築家、渡邊洋治氏の代表作として今も残る第3スカイビルは、1970年に竣工した地上14階、地下1階建ての建物。事務所と共同住宅で構成された建物は、渡邊建築事務所、丸運建設によって建設された。シルバーに塗られた躯体、横起きされた給水塔、ユニット枯れた各室など軍艦をモチーフとしたデザインが施され、俗に軍艦マンションと呼ばれている。狂気の建築家、異端の建築家と呼ばれていた渡邊氏は、陸軍船舶兵出身という経歴をもち、その影響がうかがえる独特のデザインの建築物をいくつも手掛けた。軍艦マンションという通称を持つ第3スカイビルは、その中の代表ともいわれる建物である。
