Helen Reef is located in the Southwest Islands of Palau. It is a large enclosed atoll with extensive reef flats, channel complex, and a small island that is important for sea turtle nesting and a refuge to many seabirds.The Helen Reef ecosystem is one of the Pacific's most notable atolls in terms of its integrity, biomass abundance, and biological diversity. Helen Reef is traditionally owned by the Hatohobei community, and over the past two decades the Hatohobei people have actively searched for means to protect their reef resources from illegal exploitation.
