O Hospital Stella Maris inaugurado no dia 25 de Março de 1965, graças aos esforços das Irmãs do Sodalício Stella Maris e de seus colaboradores, contava naquela época com apenas 30 leitos destinados para maternidade.. Com o passar do tempo a demanda de pacientes foi aumentando e o Hospital não comportava mais a clientela que necessitava de atendimento.. . Preocupadas com essa realidade, e pensando sempre em dar o melhor atendimento aos seus assistidos, as Irmãs resolveram ampliar o Hospital.. . Para a realização desse propósito concluíram que seria melhor construir outro prédio que contaria com mais leitos, e poderia atender pacientes de varias especialidades, tais como: Clínica Médica, Cirúrgica, Obstétrica, Ginecológica, Pediátrica, Ortopédica entre outras.. . A inauguração da obra foi acontecendo em etapas, à medida que se concluía a construção, iniciavam-se as atividades na unidade construída.. . No ano de 1976 o prédio com os seus cinco andares encontravam-se totalmente construído e em pleno funcionamento.. . Contava então o Hospital com 200 leitos para internação de pacientes nas diversas especialidades, além de Centro Cirúrgico e Centro Obstétrico.. . A acomodação oferecida aos pacientes preocupava as Irmãs que estudaram a possibilidade de um novo prédio exclusivo para o atendimento ambulatorial. A construção teve início no ano de 1981. O prédio com cinco andares foi concluído no ano de 1984.
