Detailed description is Space mission scheduled for the winter of 2016/2017 to tackle space junk. Small-sized debris are the result of normal rocket and satellite operations formed by accidental or intentional breakups of these bodies during in-orbit collisions. The distribution and density of these small orbital objects are difficult to assess in the congested areas as these debris are too small to be monitored using ground-based telescopes or radars.. . IDEA OSG 1 is the world’s first in-situ micro satellite whose mission is dedicated to collecting and monitoring data on sub-millimeter sized debris in the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) region in real-time.. . IDEA OSG 1 will be scheduled to fly over at altitude range of 540-800km in a polar orbital plane. The objective of the satellite is to contribute to the global effort of gathering key data from the most congested orbits. This data will be essential to refining current debris distribution models and improve the ability of spacecrafts in assessing the collision risk in the high risk orbits.
