O IFC teve origem na integração das escolas agrotécnicas de Concórdia, Rio do Sul e Sombrio, mais os colégios agrícolas de Araquari e Camboriú, que eram vinculados à UFSC.. Hoje, além de campi nessas cidades, contamos com unidades em Abelardo Luz, Blumenau, Brusque, Fraiburgo, Ibirama, Luzerna, Santa Rosa do Sul, São Bento do Sul, São Francisco do Sul e Videira; Unidade Urbana em Rio do Sul.. . O IFC oferece educação em todos os níveis, desde a formação inicial e continuada até a pós-graduação.
