No início de 2003, depois de vários anos como pastor da Igreja Presbiteriana, Celso Tavares iniciou a plantação da Comunidade Cristã do Caminho em Belo Horizonte a partir de um pequeno grupo caseiro que tinha um intenso desejo de aprofundar-se na vivência do discipulado, na comunhão, na compaixão, e tendo como objetivo "uma igreja para os desigrejados", o que permanece até hoje.. . Partindo de um relacionamento que já existia desde os anos 90 e de um profunda identificação com os valores e prioridades do Movimento Vineyard, sobretudo da Teologia e prática do Reino de Deus, a igreja foi oficializada como parte do mesmo em 2004. Desde então o nome Vineyard BH tem sido usado para identificar a qual parte da família de Jesus estamos mais intimamente ligados sem, no entanto, deixar de lado a nossa essência local de uma comunidade cristã que tem buscado adotar o estilo de vida do Caminho como sua característica natural: uma comunidade de discípulos do Reino de Deus, comunidade cristã do Caminho.. . A ênfase da nossa vivência de igreja está na edificação, comunhão e no serviço diários. Por isso nos reunimos nas Comunidades Pioneiras (grupos caseiros) espalhados por Belo Horizonte e região metropolitana, nos reunindo apenas uma vez no domingo para a celebração geral da igreja.. .
