The Indian Academy of Martial Arts begins its history in the year of 1980.. When Mr Laxmikanth won the International Karate Championship at Hyderabad Charminar Trophy in 1979.. The Karate Budokan International Grand Master Mr. Chew Choo Soot of Malaysia Invited Mr. Laxmikanth for advanced training in Karate and Martial Arts.. After Having his training at Kualalumpur Malaysia he got his Ist Dan Black Belt under the guidance of Mr. Chew Choo Soot.. After coming from Malaysia he started the Institution called Indian Academy of Martial Arts.SAC Auditorium, Mangalore.and Started spreading Karate schools in around Karnataka & Kerala state.. In the year of 1983 again he was invited from HQ for the for Additional training and for Kick Boxing Championship at Penang at malaysia and again he won the Prestigious Asian Kick Boxing Championship at Penang.along with IIIrd Dan Black Belt under the guidance of Mr. Ricky Wong Sek Khar,Deputy grand master,KBI Malaysia. In the year of 1984 he arranged the Black belt Grading and Awarding Ceremony at Mangalore for five members of his Academy that is the first in mangalore Karate history namely 1. Dr Lester D'Souza 2. Dr. Ashok pandith, 3. Praveen Kumar,4. Mr. Rammohan, 5 Mr. Mangaldas.. Then he started training to DK Police Dept, Customs Dept & Home guards of Mangalore. In 1988 Mangalore University has started karate Class to the Degree Students of St, Aloysius College, and become Examiner for Mangalore University.
